Corporate Social Responsibility

At New Starlight, we are firmly committed to being a pioneer in adopting international best practices, including environmental, social and governance policies. Since NSL was founded, it has engaged in various Corporate Social Responsibility and philanthropic activities in bringing about positive changes in local communities.

The New Starlight Foundation, the philanthropic and community outreach arm of NSL, has also been selected by the Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities Project to act as the local partner in advancing the sustainable development and urbanization of Mandalay. With global climate change an urgent reality today, NSL intends to become leaders and pioneers in the sustainable development of Mandalay, Upper Myanmar, as well as Myanmar in general. New Starlight is also a member of UN Global Compact, an initiatve That encourage businesses worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies. Street Dance Night – November 1st , 2nd 2014

Street Dance Night bring dancers from Mandalay and Yangon. The prizes were for the best dancing crew, best dancer and people choice award. The contest was the first dancing competition hosted in Mandalay in recent years. 20 dancers and 6 dancing crews participate for the contest.

Easy Bike Show – February 19th-20th, 2015

Another nick name for Mandalay is Cycle City due to her huge number of bicycles and motor-cycle. A total of 50 exotic motor cycles are displayed during Easy Bike Show. Visitors are mostly composed of middle to upper incomers and some of them are collectors of exotic cycles. For entertainment, singers, and magic performances were included during evening for visitors.

Mingalar Mandalay Grand Opening – February 26th – March 1st , 2015

Grand Opening of Mingalar Mandalay, Myanmar very first walking street shopping district. The Grand Opening was accompanied by a trade show which lasted from 26, February to 1, March. Entertainments includes singers, famous artists, product shows for tenants and dancing performances for visitors and guests.

Mingalar Mandalay Thingyan Festival – April 8th – 11th , 2015

Myanmar biggest, longest and most celebrated holiday season of the year. The season filled with a high amount of travelers. Also some companies paid out annual bonuses during this season. We filled the street with over 70 booths, from 60 companies, participated offering samplings and Thingyan special sales. Entertainment includes product shows for sponsors, Mr&Mrs Thingyan modeling contests, and Traditional water festival fashions from each Myanmar ancient eras and tradition dance performance.

Tasaung Tine Festival November 5, 6, 2014

Thasaung Tine Festival is hosted in Mignalar Mandalay with display of various comics depicting about Myanmar by various artists. 120 comic light boxes and 150 painting light boxes are lighted. Multiple comic associations based in Mandalay participated in the festival and variety of street foods and clothing has filled the street.

New Star Light Foundation has been chosen as 100 resilient cities partner in Mandalay

New Starlight Foundation: The Foundation is the non-profit arm of the New Star Light Construction Company – a progressive developer of sustainable urban environments in Mandalay and emerging cities and towns of Upper Myanmar and the Upper Mekong Delta. The Foundation will provide financing for capacity building and collaboration about resilient infrastructure amongst public sector, academia, private sector, and civil society actors.

Human Capital for Regional Development Seminar at Muse CBD

On June 6, 2016, a public seminar was given by Professor Dr.Aung Tun Thet and U Tin Zan Kyaw with the title ” Human Capital for Regional Development. The event took place in Mingalar Muse which is the shophouse area in Zone 1 of Muse CBD. The event was attended government officials, delegates from local business and ethnic associations.

Shan State Investment Fair

The Shan State Investment Fair was held in Taunggyi, Shan State on February 10-11. The fair is co-organized by Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Southern Shan State Chamber of Commerce (SSCCI).  At the event, New Starlight gave a presentation titled “Development of Muse Central Business District”. The presentation was delivered by New Starlight consultants : Dr. Wu Chung Tong who has a distinguished international academic career with extensive consulting experience in urban and regional planning and Mr. Foo Say Boon who has 25 years of experience in architectural planning and has worked in various government departments in Singapore.

Donation at No.(3) B.E.M.S

On September 4, 2017, Mandalay Garden City Construction, a subsidiary of New Starlight Group, make a donation to No.(3) Basic Education Middle School in Mandalay.

Donation at Mone Ko High School

On October 6, 2017, Muse Central Business District Management Team together with New Starlight BOD members went to Mone Ko, Muse and donate MMK 5,000,000 plus school stationaries to Mone Koal Basic Education High School (B.E.H.S).

The Future We Want Seminar

On July 22, 2018, New Starlight organized a seminar titled “The Future We Want” at the newly built Mandalay Convention Center. Mandalay Region Chief Minister Dr Zaw Myint Maung deliver the opening remarks with Prof.Dr. Aung Tun Thet giving a keynote speech.

Prof. Dr Aung Tun Thet moderated the panel discussion. U Tin Zan Kyaw, President & Founder of Device Consulting Group, U Kyaw Min, President of MRCCI, Daw Thin Thin Kyaw, Managing Director of SP Bakery and Daw May Yin, Managing of New Starlight Group of Companies participated in the panel.

Improving the livelihood of Mant Maw Village by connecting the village with National Highway

On September 10, 2018, New Starlight held an opening ceremony of connecting Mant Maw Village with Union National Highway. New Starlight built village internal concrete roads totaling 9987 feet.

Mandalay Convention Center Handover Ceremony

On November 9, 2018 Mandalay Convention Center was officially handover to Mandalay City Development Committee. Dr Ye Lwin, May or Mandalay City and Chairman of Mandalay City Development Committee received the handover document from U Kyaw Kyaw Win, Chairman of Mandalay Investment and Development Group Limited handed over the building. The ceremony was attended by U ThaungTun, Chairman of Myanmar Investment Commission, Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, Mandalay Region Chief Minister, Dr. Myint Naing, Saggaing Region Chief Minister, Dr Aye Zan, Mon State Chief Minister, U Aung Htoo, Deputy Minister of Commerce, Region and State Planning Ministers, Ambassadors, delegates from associations and local businessmen.

Mandalay Business Forum 2018 held at Mandalay Convention Center

On November 9, 2018, the first Mandalay Business Forum was held at Mandalay Convention Center. The event is jointly organized by Myanmar Investment Commission, Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, Mandalay Region Investment Committee and proudly supported by New Starlight.
